Quest and ‘Love on the Spectrum’ Star Madison Marilla Host Jewelry Making Class
Quest’s Training Center in Tampa recently partnered with Madison Marilla, a star from Season 3 of Netflix’s “Love on the Spectrum,” to host a fun and inspiring jewelry-making class. This event aligned with the center’s mission to provide skill development and recreational services that promote community inclusion.
Madison’s Creative Journey
Diagnosed with autism and ADHD, Madison discovered her passion for jewelry making at the age of 10. By the time she reached high school, she was sharing her talent by teaching classes in her local community. In 2024, she took a major step forward by launching her handcrafted jewelry brand, Madizen, a name that merges her own with “Zen,” reflecting the tranquility she experiences throughout her creative process.
Each piece of Madison’s jewelry tells a unique story, embodying her journey on the autism spectrum and her dedication to authenticity and community. During the class, she eagerly shared her passion and expertise, guiding participants as they created their own designs.
“I enjoy sharing my art and jewelry-making because I hope it can bring others the same stability and calmness that it brings me,” Madison shares.
Beyond Jewelry: Building Skills and Confidence
Participants were fully engaged in this hands-on experience, crafting beaded necklaces and bracelets. Throughout the session, Madison encouraged them to embrace self-belief and adaptability, motivating each person to understand that they, too, had the potential to make an impact on the world by sharing their story.
“Moments like these are important because our clients gain hands-on skills and realize that activities like jewelry making can lead to job opportunities or similar endeavors out in the world,” says Heather Castle, Quest’s senior director of philanthropy in Tampa.
Just as no two pieces of jewelry are identical, neither are the individuals who create them. Madison’s class served as a beautiful reminder of the strength found in diversity and the power of creativity to forge meaningful connections.
Honoring Advocacy in Action
Capping off a memorable day, Madison was honored with Quest’s first-ever Ambassador Award, celebrating her advocacy and dedication to individuals with developmental disabilities. Looking ahead, she will return as the honorary bingo caller at Quest’s sold-out PlayBINGO fundraising event on August 23 at the Tampa River Center.
