Those We Serve -Madison

When Madison moved into Quest Village less than a year ago, she immediately sensed her life was about to change. The residential community represented a space where she could grow, build connections and finally be herself.

“I started crying the first day that I was here. I didn’t know how to explain it, but I knew I was meant to be here,” Madison says.

A journey toward self-acceptance

For someone who spent much of her life feeling out of place, that moment was powerful. She was diagnosed with ADHD in second grade and autism in fourth grade. She often felt like she didn’t belong. Social cues were hard to read, and friendships were difficult to maintain. Over time, Madison began to believe her disability was a weakness.

Through conversations with her mother and a growing understanding of her diagnoses, Madison slowly began to challenge the beliefs she had carried for so long. She started leaning into her faith and realized her disability was a superpower, something that shaped her purpose, not a limitation.

That shift in perspective helped fuel some of her proudest accomplishments, such as graduating with a standard high school diploma, earning a culinary degree and becoming a published author.

“We can’t always be afraid of life. We have to grab the bull by the horns,” she writes in her book “My Story.”

Living boldly at Quest Village

That is exactly what Madison is doing today at Quest Village. She is fully embracing independent living. Onsite, some of her favorite amenities include the fitness center and art room, places where she can focus on wellness and creativity.

When she’s ready to explore beyond the neighborhood, Quest Village’s location gives her convenient access to employment, health care, transportation and entertainment. Madison enjoys being able to shop, socialize and move about on her own terms.

What she loves most of all is the sense of community. Whether she’s at movie nights, karaoke or residential events, she feels surrounded by people who truly understand and support her. After spending years longing for meaningful friendships, she now pours encouragement and positivity into others just as generously as they pour into her.

“Maddy is a natural socialite who knows no strangers and brings sunshine on the cloudiest day,” says Jakira Gammons, community support coach at Quest Village. “If you ever need anybody to hype you up, that’s Madison. She’s wonderful, and you can’t help but love her.”

Looking ahead with confidence

With every new friendship, every step toward independence and every moment she chooses courage over fear, Madison is experiencing a full life. Learn more at Quest Village – Quest, Inc.
