Those We Serve – Vincent

At Quest’s Training Centers, individuals with developmental disabilities aren’t just participants — they’re thriving members of a supportive community. Vincent’s story shows how the right environment fosters growth and independence.

Vincent’s Transition and Growth at Quest

After relocating to Tampa, Vincent transitioned to Quest’s Training Center in Tampa from a different adult day training program that didn’t fulfill his specific needs. He started attending twice a week, but the supportive atmosphere quickly encouraged him to come full time. Nearly a year later, Vincent has embraced countless opportunities that align with his needs and goals.

“Vincent’s inclusivity has helped others come out of their shells. He talks to them, and even those who have been here for over a year now find themselves more involved,” says Nicole Lam, the program director at Quest’s Training Center in Tampa.

Engaging in Meaningful Activities and Fostering Connections

One of the key features of Quest’s Training Centers is its range of recreational opportunities and life-skills development activities. With access to daily community activities typically limited for individuals with developmental disabilities, Vincent takes full advantage of the diverse programming. His favorite activities include culinary classes, fitness sessions, games and art.

“My favorite art is ceramics because I used to do that in high school,” Vincent says. “I would make ceramic pots and do pottery.”

After a small group of participants formed the Creative Angels Art Club at the center, Vincent jumped at the chance to become an active participant. He now has the opportunity to work on special weekly projects while continuing his regular art classes. Through his well-rounded involvement, Vincent has made friends at the center and found a girlfriend, further enriching his social network.

Future Aspirations with a Supportive Environment

Always ready for the next adventure, Vincent has expressed a keen interest in contributing to the Snack Shack. This on-site store is a practical training ground for vocational skills in a supportive environment. Participation in vocational training is crucial for individuals pursuing competitive employment. Understanding his determination, the staff will collaborate with Vincent to enhance his work readiness by building his confidence and developing essential skills.

For families searching for an adult day training center for their loved ones, Vincent’s journey is a testament to what is possible when individuals with developmental disabilities have an accessible and encouraging environment.

“I like everything about it,” Vincent says when asked about his time at the training center.

We are excited to witness individuals like Vincent’s continued growth and achievements as they carve their paths toward success and fulfillment in our community. Learn more at Training Centers – Quest, Inc.
