This month’s client highlight for Quest brings us, Darrell. Darrell is a current student at Quest Kids Academy (QKA). He has been a student with us since January 2022.
Before coming to QKA, Darrell received ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) therapy for years with another organization while attending another school. However, after some significant life changes and an administration change at his current school, it was time for a change.
Darrell’s mother, Ambah, was referred to QKA by a friend. From there, Ambah did her research and reached out to the school.
Darrell thrived in his new environment. While in school, Darrell joined a work-study program with Quest’s social venture Blossom.
Darrell learned interpersonal skills, job, and leadership skills with his new position at Blossom.
Darrell states, “Before QKA, I used to be very miserable. I was struggling with school and at home… Now I feel like I’ve finally found a place where I feel happy,”
His mother now feels relief for him as well. “After some years of hardship, Quest changed everything and has really supported Darrell,” says Ambah regarding everything QKA has brought into their lives.
Looking to the future, Darrell still has a couple more years left with QKA. However, the director of QKA, Melissa Lopez, believes a bright future is ahead of him.
“Darrell is such a bright young man, and we are excited to see all that he achieves during and after QKA,” says Melissa when talking about him and his progress at school.
