At Quest’s Adult Day Training Center in Tampa, we are fortunate to have Terrie Johnson as our Licensed Practical Nurse. With nearly two decades of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, Terrie brings a wealth of knowledge and a heartfelt passion to her role.

A Career Inspired by Compassion

Terrie’s nursing journey began in 2007, inspired by the compassionate care she observed during her father’s battle with cancer. Since starting her career, she has built enduring relationships with the individuals she serves, laying the foundation for trust and understanding.

Terrie has made an impressive impact in her short time with Quest, Inc. From managing client attendance to administering necessary medications and fostering rapport with clients and their guardians, she prioritizes familiarity.

“It’s important for me to develop relationships because, without them, the [individuals] might not feel comfortable with me giving them the treatment they need,” Terrie says.

By spending time in classrooms and joining training center participants during lunchtime, she ensures her presence becomes a source of reassurance. Terrie embraces her role with enthusiasm and a relentless desire to grow. She appreciates the learning opportunities presented by her clients’ diverse needs, which allow her to build skills that help support them.

Leadership in Action

One of her standout achievements involved advocating for a client who, after noticing concerning symptoms, required a swallow study to prevent aspiration risks. Her proactive approach ensured the participant received immediate care and involved educating staff on effectively supporting the client’s dietary needs after the new findings.

These collaboration efforts are vital at the center, and Terrie exemplifies leadership in action. She is a team player who engages with other staff members, fostering open communication to address each client’s needs.

“TJ has blown me out of the park,” says Nicci Lam, program director at Quest’s Training Center in Tampa. “She came into her position and immediately took autonomy to enhance documentation management, advocate for clients, communicate with group homes, assist skill instructors, and so much more. She is a truly reliable member of my leadership team.”

Terrie’s vision extends beyond her current role. She aspires to become a nurse practitioner, a goal that reflects her commitment to her professional growth and the well-being of our clients. Her passion for her work shines brightly in everything she does.
