Dedicated employees are the backbone of Quest, Inc.’s mission to empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives. Jacqueline “Jackie” Knight is a shining example of this commitment, having spent the past 23 years consistently and compassionately supporting clients across Quest programs.
Committed to making an impact
Jackie’s journey with Quest began right after she graduated from high school in 2001. Her passion for the work stemmed from her relationship with her brother, who had cerebral palsy. In honor of his passing, Jackie took her first job as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at the Laurel Hill Intermediate Care Facility (ICF). During her eight years as a DSP, Jackie helped adults at the ICF gain independence and integrate into their communities.
Her dedication and hard work did not go unnoticed. She advanced through various roles, including Program Specialist and Validation Coordinator/Behavior Assistance, ultimately becoming a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) at Blossom Artisanal, a social venture of Quest, and Quest Kids Academy.
Building meaningful connections
Today, Jackie serves as an RBT for Quest Kids Therapy, supporting children and teens with developmental disabilities in achieving their dreams and goals. She supports Quest’s therapy centers in Orlando, as well as at schools and other community settings. Jackie values the opportunity to build meaningful connections with the individuals she serves in a range of environments.
“Jackie can pair with any client she is scheduled to work with and remembers all the smallest details about them, even after working with over 50 clients across our centers,” says Diana Landon, senior practice manager at Quest Kids Therapy. “She makes her therapy sessions fun, engaging and effortlessly adapts her sessions to each child’s personality and needs.”
Jackie’s primary goal is to equip those she supports with the tools they need to navigate life successfully. One of the most fulfilling aspects of her work is witnessing children learn to communicate, whether through verbal words or nonverbal cues. Seeing them grow and express their wants and needs is vital for a fulfilling life.
“As RBTs, we provide the skills and tools to help our kids navigate the world,” Jackie says. “I truly love what I do. It’s meaningful work that brings me joy each day.”
