At Quest’s Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs), a team of dedicated staff provides 24–hour support to individuals with developmental disabilities who are medically complex. For Felicia Fields, caring for others has always been a calling — one that guides every interaction she has with residents as a direct support professional (DSP) at Williams Road Cluster, a Quest ICF in Tampa.
A Lifelong Commitment to Direct Support
Felicia’s passion for direct support began early in her career. She realized how naturally she gravitated toward roles where she could support people who needed extra care.
Felicia joined Quest in 2016, supporting men with significant behavioral needs. She guided them through daily living skills, including cooking, laundry and personal care. Each task helped them build meaningful routines.
Creating Comfort, Connection and Dignity
Today, Felicia uses those skills in her role as a DSP, helping residents participate in daily programming that maximizes independence and choice. She understands that each person has different needs and meets every individual exactly where they are. Whether residents are practicing skills, exploring new interests or simply enjoying time with peers, her goal each day is simple: to help someone smile along the way.
“If I get one smile during my shift, I feel like I made a difference,” she says. “The individuals I serve didn’t ask to be in the position they’re in. So to get that smile, I feel like I’ve done something to make them happy.”
That focus on joy and connection extends beyond the walls of the home. Community outings are an essential part of life at the ICF. They give residents the chance to experience the world around them and connect with others in the community. Felicia believes these moments reinforce Quest’s mission to ensure every individual can experience a full life. She recalls a moment she holds close, reminding her that every person deserves to feel included and celebrated.
“We went to a soccer game in St. Petersburg and, oh my goodness, the clients’ eyes were so bright,” she recalls. “Just watching them have a good time and be so happy — it’s important.”
Living Out Quest’s Core Values
Every day, Felicia brings warmth, patience and humanity to her work. Whether she’s offering a comforting presence or encouraging independence, she helps create a home where individuals feel valued.
“Felicia truly exemplifies the heart of Quest,” says Travis Tart, ICF administrator at the Williams Road Cluster. “She doesn’t just perform her duties; she embodies our core value of respect and genuinely cares about the clients’ well–being. She has the respect of the clients she serves as well as her peers.”
