In just over a year, Darrien Andrews has seamlessly integrated into the fabric of Quest’s Training Center in Tampa, embodying positivity, adaptability and dedication. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), Darrien plays a crucial role fostering deep connections with clients and colleagues.
Originally drawn to Quest by the vibrant community described in the job description, Darrien stated, “I loved seeing all the pictures of staff, clients, and the community. Quest seemed to be a real community, and that’s one of the things I liked about it.”
Darrien’s day-to-day routine involves creating a welcoming environment for clients and guiding them through various activities. “We usually arrive at eight o’clock, and the clients usually arrive around 8:16. Once they arrive, we collect their belongings and give them time to get settled in, get their bags unpacked, and get ready for the various activities they will participate in throughout the day.”
Impactful Work and Rewards
“I enjoy seeing the progress of each client,” said Darrien. “Seeing someone walk in having many challenges they must overcome and leaving every day with visible improvements is most rewarding.” He also acknowledged the impact of seemingly simple actions, stating, “Even though our job title may seem simple, the impact that we have and the things that we do every day are important to their development as individuals.”
The Heart of Quest: Its People
When asked about his long-term plans with Quest, Darrien highlighted the significance of the people at the training center. He expressed, “I think it’s just the people there. The people make the company. Everyone at Quest plays their part in making it an enjoyable workplace.”
In Darrien’s eyes, Quest is not just a job but a community-driven experience. He envisions staying with Quest for as long as possible, emphasizing the familial atmosphere.
