The Rum Runners BBQ team treated Quest’s Camp Thunderbird’s camp guests and staff to an unforgettable BBQ experience. Rob Dopp, with over seven years of experience on the Florida BBQ and KCBS Circuit; Amy Dopp, a rising star in the competitive cooking scene; and their talented young chef, Brady, are known for their mouthwatering creations.
A Heartwarming Display of Partnership and Generosity
Rob and Amy also own RLD Outdoors, a local company that helps manage landscaping for several Quest, Inc. facilities. The event was a culinary treat and a heartwarming display of partnership.
“We have been planning to do something to give back to Quest, and we thought Camp Thunderbird was a perfect location,” says John Enos, Director of Risk and Safety at Quest, Inc. and a Rum Runners BBQ team member. “Only a few of our clients have the opportunity to experience camp, and we knew even fewer have the opportunity to have delicious competition barbecue. So, we said, ‘Let’s make this happen.'”
A Delightful Menu and the Secret Ingredient: Love
The lunch menu for camp guests and staff consisted of mouthwatering pulled pork, chicken wings, mac and cheese, and baked beans prepared with much love. Dopp mentions, “The secret to BBQ is a lot of love. You have to love the long process of cooking it and hanging out with people who are family.”
The joy on the faces of the campers and staff, as they relished the delectable BBQ, was a heartwarming sight. The successful partnership created a memorable experience and fostered a sense of community and happiness through food.
Fostering Community and Creating Lasting Memories
“RLD Outdoors is just a great partner of Quest, and this was our first opportunity to do this event,” says Enos. “We’re looking for this to be an annual event. With the right funding, sponsorships and donations, I’d love to see this event grow from pulled pork and wings to brisket and steaks.”
