Quest, Inc. is committed to helping people with developmental disabilities experience a full life. This March, we are proud to support National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month. Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a group of disorders that can affect an individual’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture. It is the most common cause of motor disability in children and affects over one million people in the U.S. alone.
Why It’s Important to Raise Awareness for Cerebral Palsy
At Quest, we understand that raising awareness and advocating for inclusivity and services for people living with CP can help combat stigma and allow individuals to live full and enriched lives. During Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, we urge everyone to learn about the early signs and common conditions linked to an increased risk for CP. These include infant stroke, multiple births, premature birth, genetics and problems with the flow of oxygen throughout the developing brain.
Understanding the signs and risk factors associated with CP can help individuals and families seek appropriate treatment. We offer a range of services to help individuals affected by CP, including:
Residential Services
We provide various residential options, including group homes and supported living arrangements, to help individuals with CP live as independently as possible.
Employment services
We offer job training and placement services to help individuals with CP find and maintain employment.
Recreational activities
We provide a variety of recreational programs, such as art classes, music therapy, and adaptive sports, to help individuals with CP stay active and engaged.
Behavioral health services
We offer counseling and other behavioral health services to help individuals with CP cope with emotional and psychological challenges.
Age Specific and Tailored Programming
We understand that the physical and behavioral challenges associated with CP can vary greatly. Therefore, we offer age-specific and tailored programming to meet all participants’ unique needs. Quest firmly believes that disabilities do not have to limit opportunities for our clients.
One of the many programs we offer is Quest’s Camp Thunderbird, which allows individuals living with CP and other disabilities to enjoy six-day overnight sessions that provide parents and guardians a break from the demands of 24-hour caregiving.
In addition to our programs, many resources are available to individuals with CP and their families. The Cerebral Palsy Foundation provides a wealth of resources, including assistive technology, educational materials and support services.
Join Us in Celebrating Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day
We invite you to join us in celebrating National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day on March 25 and every day after. Raising awareness of CP can foster greater understanding and acceptance of those living with it. You can raise awareness by sharing educational resources, participating in fundraising events or simply wearing green to show solidarity.
Together, we can make a positive change and ensure individuals with CP have the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life. Quest will continue to be your lifelong friend on this journey, providing exceptional services, support and resources to impact those we serve.
