On Saturday, August 23, Quest, Inc. welcomed over 200 community advocates to the Tampa River Center for the inaugural PlayBingo Ladies Luncheon. This sold-out event featured six exciting rounds of bingo, raising more than $70,000 to support individuals with developmental disabilities.

The power of community

The energy was high as attendees decorated their tables and dressed up to match their chosen themes for an afternoon of fun and philanthropy. Throughout the luncheon, guests learned about Quest’s history. The organization began back in 1962, when eight families banded together to create better lives for their loved ones with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Today, Quest serves over 600 children and adults daily across central Florida.

We are fortunate that our clients get to experience a full life in large part due to the generosity of all the supporters and businesses in our communities,” said Brooke Eakins, Quest’s chief operating officer. Strong communities are built on care, connection and compassion, and we are proud to be here today.”

Tailored support to live a full life

Among the community supporters were special guests Deanne King, award-winning journalist and member of the WFLA Channel 8 team; Taneka Bowles, CEO of the Tampa Bay Fashion Experience; and Madison Marilla from Netflix’s Love on the Spectrum,” who served as the Bingo caller. Taneka shared her personal journey as a champion of neurodiversity, highlighting how individuals with developmental disabilities, like her son, benefit from community support and personally tailored programs.

We’re fortunate to have Quest’s vision and commitment to providing services in the Tampa Bay region. Events like PlayBingo generate vital financial support and help advance Quest’s mission to assist people with developmental disabilities,” said Taneka.

The funds raised will directly impact clients through a comprehensive range of services, including behavior therapy, customized education, life and vocational skills training, employment services, and recreational and residential opportunities.

Quest thanks presenting sponsor, TECO Energy, as well as all the generous sponsors, special guests, volunteers and attendees for making this event possible. Their support enables us to continue our mission of uplifting those we serve. We can’t wait to see everyone at the 2nd annual event in 2026!
