Originally from Haiti, Herby was encouraged by a friend to apply to Quest, Inc. He’s now been with Quest for almost 15 years as a Direct Support Professional (DSP).
As a DSP, he works directly with individuals with developmental disabilities and helps them with daily living tasks. Pre-pandemic, Herby particularly enjoyed taking residents out into the community. He would go on small field trips with them so they could enjoy eating out at a restaurant or shopping.
For Herby, it’s the clients that make work special. “When you start working with them and you start getting close to them, you get to know them,” he says. “They’re part of your family because you almost spend more time with them than your family.”
Herby loves to cook for the residents. Some weekends he will make barbecue chicken and ribs for them. “So, we got some fun,” he says. “And they love it. They always say, ‘I like when you’re cooking, Herby.’”
“Over the years I’ve worked with Herby, he has always shown compassion,” says Jessica, the Residential Program Manager. “One memory in particular I remember was when a parent came to the house and the client wheelchair was not working and he took it upon himself to help the guardian fix it!”
“We really appreciate his work ethic and how he helps the clients he serves achieve their goals by showing up and engaging with them constantly,” says Jessica. “His dedication to our clients is unmatched. His consistency and humbleness are what make him a not only a good DSP, but a GREAT person.”
Quest is forever grateful for Herby’s 15 years of dedicated service. He’s made a lasting impact on the lives of the individuals he works with daily as well as to the overall Quest family. Thank you Herby!
