School is back! Quest Kids Academy (QKA) staff and students are excited to be back in school and looking forward to a productive year as the school grows.
QKA is benefitting from additional space for students and staff this year. The academy has been located at Trinity Lutheran Church for the last few years and was previously only operating on the top floor. The bottom floor was added to the school’s layout this year allowing for more students and classrooms!
The need for additional space was prompted by QKA welcoming 10 new students. Transition can be tough for any student, so the goal is to get them adjusted to their new school environment and routine and make sure they are tolerating the change well.
“This school year, we’re helping our 10 new students acclimate, be successful in this environment, and helping them reach their short-term goals.” says Melissa QKA’s director.
Another focus this year will be expanding the Quest For Life (QFL) program. QFL provides older students with a curriculum geared towards their transition into employment and increased independence as they exit schooling.
“A big focus is definitely further carving out the Quest For Life curriculum. We’re now offering a cooking class this year as well as financial literacy, independent living and self-care,” says Melissa.
New additions bring excitement and opportunity. The QKA staff are doing a tremendous job working to equip each student with a top-notch education and skills for a more independent life.
