Quest Kids Academy (QKA). Deke’s journey at QKA spans six years, marked by his commitment to transform the lives of the children he serves.
Deke’s interest in behavioral intervention began in high school, where his elective credit led him to work with special education teachers. This experience laid the groundwork for a career defined by empathy and specialized training. Over the years, Deke’s path included various roles and responsibilities, from working with independent companies to contributing to group homes; each experience would shape the level of proficiency and resilience that he brings to Quest.
When asked about the most rewarding aspect of his role at QKA, Deke replied, “Everything! Simply put, I enjoy being here.” Deke finds fulfillment from witnessing the progress and achievements of the children under his care. “We’re trying to teach kids skills so they can go out and have the most independent life possible,” says Deke. “Whether it’s simple communication or daily living skills, I enjoy seeing kids’ success and progress.”
Deke emphasized the significance of mentorship and learning from seasoned professionals. “I had the opportunity to interact with a lot of good people who were great in the field that I could learn from and who did not mind teaching me and sharing their knowledge,” stated Deke.
Deke’s commitment to empowering children with developmental disabilities and furthering their independence embodies the spirit of Quest’s mission — helping people with developmental disabilities experience a full life. He also inspires those who have the privilege of working alongside him.
