Those We Serve – Brock

by | Feb 22, 2024 | Quest Kids Academy, Those We Serve

Brock is a spirited student at Quest Kids Academy (QKA) whose journey shows remarkable progress and unwavering support.

Brock’s mother, Ann, reminisced on their journey with Quest, beginning with Brock’s enrollment in therapy services at three years old, stating, “I was really happy with the therapists at Quest. Brock was learning things, and they helped me learn how to deal with his behaviors and address them in a more positive way so he can be more successful.”

Ann recalls QKA’s tailored approach to education when Brock started school in 2019, “They started teaching him in a way that he can learn.” She commends the staff’s high standards and results-driven focus, stating, “I feel like at Quest Kids Academy, the staff really know what they’re doing. There are many special education teachers out there, but they don’t have the expertise like the staff at Quest, from my experience.”

Brock is also involved in the work-study program at QKA where he gains valuable job training and life skills that ready him for the next phase of his life. “I can tell he feels more grown up and he’s a part of something that has a greater purpose,” said Ann.

She also shared that his interest in navigation has grown through this time. “He is really into maps, like a GPS. He can get anywhere around Orlando. I can ask him for directions and he usually tells me the best way to go,” she stated.

Central to Brock’s success at QKA are the dedicated educators, including Mr. Deke and Ms. Erin, whom Ann praises for their ongoing support. She remarks, “They have so much patience. They’re both amazing people and amazing teachers. It takes a special person to work with kids and to be a therapist.”

As Brock continues his journey at QKA, Ann’s hopes for his future are rooted in his continued growth, independence and happiness, stating, “I believe Brock can lead a fulfilling life with support from his family and community like Quest.”
