Quest’s Camp Thunderbird 2021

by | Jun 28, 2021 | Camp Thunderbird

A sleep away camp is something that many adults with developmental disabilities didn’t get to enjoy as children. Quest’s Camp Thunderbird aims to make up for lost time as it’s designed for adults with developmental disabilities to have summer camp fun.

Unfortunately, as the pandemic worsened, we made the tough decision to cancel all of our camp sessions for 2020. We know how disappointed many of our guests were and we missed seeing everyone’s smiling faces last year.

“It was a very difficult decision to cancel Camp during 2020 but as always, the safety of Camp Thunderbird’s guests and staff members is our top priority,” said Faye Murphy, Quest’s Senior Director of Independent Living and Camp Thunderbird. “But we are so thrilled to reopen camp this year and give our guests the best possible vacation.”

While Quest’s Camp Thunderbird is a great vacation for our guests, it’s also a much-needed respite for their families, who are often part-time or full-time care givers. Families can rest easy knowing that we can accommodate different abilities at our camp. There are paved walkways and ramps around the grounds making it easier for individuals with mobility limitations to move around and have fun.

During our different summer sessions, there’s a variety of quintessential camp experiences that our guests can enjoy. Some of the many activities include: gathering around the campfire, learning archery, swimming in the pool, making arts and crafts, and canoeing on the lake.
