Quest Kids Academy Hosts Its First-Ever Prom
Quest Kids Academy recently hosted its first-ever prom inside its brand–new facility located in downtown Orlando. After seven years without a permanent home, students were excited to begin classes in the new building only days before the event. The timing couldn’t have been more meaningful.
A Night of Enchantment
From the moment everyone walked in, the enthusiasm was undeniable. Students had been talking about prom since it was first announced last year, and parents had been shopping for outfits for months. The theme was “Night of Enchantment,” and the staff and volunteers worked hard to transform the space, ensuring the evening lived up to the collective anticipation.
“One of the most memorable moments was seeing the shock on the students’ faces when they arrived and how awesome they looked in their prom clothes,” says enrichment coordinator Josh Cross.
Parents beamed as their children posed for photos, and while there was a bit of hesitancy at first — new building, first prom, lots of emotions — it didn’t last long. Before anyone knew it, students hit the dance floor showing off their best moves.
As the music played on, parents, staff and volunteers joined in — dancing, laughing and soaking in a moment many had long hoped for.
Memories That Will Last a Lifetime
For Kristian, a student preparing to graduate this year, the night carried extra significance.
“Prom was really fun! I liked the snacks a lot, and the balloons were so cool. I got to dance with my mom and talk to my friends, which made me really proud,” he says.
Prom was nothing short of enchanting. It marked a new chapter for every student and reflected the heart of Quest’s mission to help individuals with developmental disabilities lead full lives.
“If I had one word that captures the whole evening, it would be epic,” Josh says. “It really felt good seeing everyone under one roof having such a good time. We laughed and danced until it was closing time. This is what it’s all about.”
