What is a Direct Support Professional?

by | Sep 9, 2024 | DSP Week, Quest Culture | 0 comments

Direct Support Professionals play a critical role at Quest, Inc. They are the backbone of our operations, working tirelessly to meet the diverse needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.

The Role of a DSP

The role of DSPs has evolved beyond caregiving. At Quest, DSPs are integral to every aspect of our clients’ daily lives. They assist with personal care, skill-building programs, mobility assistance, transportation, meal preparation, medication management and more. Their growth and adaptability are a testament to their dedication to fostering a culture of accessibility.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment in 2022, the ongoing shortage of direct care workers nationwide, including DSPs, has brought more attention to the profession’s high demands. We understand and appreciate the hard work and long-term commitment of our DSPs. Many have been with the company for over 10 years, earning Quest a reputation as one of the premier service providers for individuals with developmental disabilities in Central Florida.

“Quest’s DSPs are dedicated professionals who do whatever it takes to provide the support needed for each individual we serve to meet their goals and have the highest possible quality of life. We genuinely would not be here without them,” says Quest’s Chief Operating Officer Brooke Eakins.

Inspire Individuals, Become a DSP

Quest is grateful for its DSPs. Their perseverance in adapting to changes and improving their support for our clients is inspiring. Quest is excited to continue championing DSPs as they further our mission of helping individuals with developmental disabilities experience a full life.

If you are ready to inspire, empower and support Central Floridians with developmental disabilities as they achieve their goals to live, learn, work and play, we encourage you to apply for DSP roles available at Careers – Quest, Inc. (questinc.org)
