About Camp Days

This weekend day camp offers adults with developmental disabilities a range of activities in a beautiful natural setting. Participants learn and practice new skills while socializing and fostering friendships. Located on the banks of beautiful Lake Prevatt inside the Wekiwa Springs State Park in Apopka, Florida, the grounds are equipped with wheelchair-accessible trails and ADA-accessible amenities.

Activities

At Camp Day, participants can look forward to a wide range of traditional camp activities that cater to their interests and abilities. From archery to swimming, canoeing to wilderness skills, arts and crafts to various sports and games, there’s something for everyone. Our programming is designed to increase socialization and foster skill-building through fun, hands-on outdoor activities.

Guidelines for Participation

  • Each guest must have a caregiver accompany them during Camp Days.
  • Caregivers attend at no additional cost.
  • Attendees are required to bring their own lunch due to various dietary restrictions.

Age-Specific Programming

Age-specific programming ensures that all the unique recreational and developmental needs of the participants are met.

What is Quest's Camp Thunderbird?

A facility that offers recreational opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities from September – May and summer vacation opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities from June-August. Camp Thunderbird is also available for rental groups and overnight retreats.

Where is Quest's Camp Thunderbird located?

We’re located on 19 wooded acres surrounding the beautiful Lake Prevatt. Our Retreat and Conference Center is the perfect blend of nature and conveniences. The setting and accommodations are excellent for team-building activities, reunions, family picnics, workshops, and other gatherings.

What age groups can attend Camp Days?

18+

What activities are offered at Camp Days?

Traditional camp day activities include swimming, archery, wilderness survival skills, sports and games, arts and crafts, ecology, and the opportunity to socialize. Activities will be weather dependent and vary each camp day.

Are meals provided during Camp Days?

No, all participants are asked to bring their own packed lunches.

Can I visit my camper during their stay?

A caregiver should accompany all participants to supervise, facilitate participation in activities, and provide any personal care needs.

Are there any technology restrictions?

Our facility allows all guests to enjoy the great outdoors and provides an excellent platform for participants to socialize with others. It is a recommendation that all participants disconnect while participating in activities. Camp Thunderbird is not responsible for lost items.

Is financial assistance available?

Not at this time.

What happens in case of bad weather?

Camp Thunderbird has indoor and outdoor facilities. If we experience bad weather, we will be sure to have activities that will be executed indoors.
