Quest, Inc. Launches Sponsor and Serve Initiative

by | Aug 9, 2024 | Camp Thunderbird, Partnerships, Philanthropy

Quest, Inc. is excited to introduce “Sponsor & Serve,” a volunteer initiative that allows groups to cook  and serve a delicious meal to camp guests and counselors at Quest’s Camp Thunderbird.

Camp Thunderbird offers accessible and engaging programming for children and adults with developmental disabilities in a beautiful setting in Apopka, Florida. From archery and shelter building to foam parties and arts and crafts, attendees foster independence as they experience a traditional summer camp. Through the Sponsor & Serve Initiative, guests can enjoy a delicious meal while interacting with community volunteers.

The Impact of the Sponsor & Serve Initiative

“This initiative provides an opportunity to engage volunteers and acquaint them with Quest’s impactful work while showcasing the diverse activities available at Camp Thunderbird,” says Katie Moore, Events and Volunteer Manager at Quest.

The initiative also offers a valuable reprieve for the hard-working kitchen staff, allowing them to partake in the meal alongside their colleagues and camp attendees.

Rotary Club of Maitland Sponsors and Serves Dinner

The Rotary Club of Maitland generously donated their time to sponsor and serve dinner to our Camp Thunderbird guests and staff. Eight volunteers arrived with all the supplies needed for a traditional cookout.

Volunteers made hamburger patties while others chopped vegetables for the dinner salad. Camp Thunderbird camp guests and staff arrived at the café excited for this special dinner. Everyone had a great time, and guests and staff headed out to their evening activities with full bellies.

“As a Rotary club, our motto is service over self, so we look for opportunities to serve our local community,” said Joe Jowdy, Project Chairman of the Rotary Club of Maitland. “Our experience out at Camp Thunderbird was very positive. Our club members enjoyed making dinner for the camp guests and counselors. Seeing how appreciative [the guests] were filled our hearts with joy.”

How You Can Make an Impact at Camp Thunderbird

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Rotary Club of Maitland for their generous sponsorship and serving of dinner at Camp Thunderbird.
