Quest, Inc. received the Las Damas de Arte grant to fund an exciting art project at Quest’s adult training center in Tampa. The grant supported the creation of a vibrant mural in the adult enrichment room. This project aligns with Quest’s mission to provide comprehensive skill development and vocational services to individuals with developmental disabilities at our centers.
Client Collaboration and Community Engagement
The mural, designed and executed with the help of our clients and team members, is a focal point of the Training Center. To ensure that the mural reflected the interests of the community, training center clients voted on the theme of the seven continents. The mural incorporates various colors, numbers, letters, textures and sensory components with an educational focus that will benefit all participants for years.
The mural allowed clients to come together and leave their mark on a meaningful and lasting work of art, fostering a sense of ownership and community. It stands as a symbol of unity and collaboration.
Mural Design and Symbolism
The mural focuses on geography to complement the diverse concepts discussed at the Training Center and is an educational piece for clients, team members and visitors. Clients painted each continent in different rainbow colors and used handprints to signify the “water” around them. The quote, “Quest leaves their print on the world,” ties the mural together, symbolizing Quest’s impact on the world through daily activities and community engagement.
Impact and Personal Experiences
The project has been a meaningful and therapeutic experience for our clients. One client, who typically dislikes sensory stimulation on their hands, actively participated in the project, expressing joy and excitement throughout. The collective experience of creating art has brought our clients and team members closer together, fostering bonds and providing a platform for personal growth and expression.

Quest’s Training Center in Tampa provides customized skill development and recreational services, offering participants opportunities for healthy living, cultural and social development, and shared community activities such as art, fitness and volunteerism. These activities are essential for individuals with developmental disabilities to lead successful, meaningful, enjoyable lives.
