Before beginning his journey at Quest Kids Academy, Sebasthian attended a school where he repeated activities that no longer felt stimulating. It took one visit to Quest for his family to know they found an engaging learning environment that would promote growth for Sebasthian.
“From day one, we felt so welcome that I thought, ‘Oh, this is where I want Sebasthian to be,’ ” said his mother, Loyda.
Sebasthian attended sessions at Quest Kids Therapy while waiting for an opening at the school. A few years and two applications later, Loyda received the acceptance call she’d been waiting for.
“When he got accepted to Quest Kids Academy, I started screaming at my workplace. I felt like he had been accepted to Harvard,” Loyda said. “It was such an emotional moment for me because we had been given so much hope since the first time we walked into Quest.”
As a parent, Loyda appreciates the school’s mission is to equip students with the confidence and skills they need to thrive independently. Beyond academics, Quest offers a work-study and transitional program that prepares students for adulthood.
“We want Sebasthian to be the most independent and happy person he can be,” Loyda said. “Quest has given us hope and made us aware that there is a brighter future atthe end of the tunnel.”
According to Sebasthian, the staff is doing everything they can to help him achieve independence.
“The teachers are very awesome. They help me with math, language, arts and crafts, and music. They help me learn.”
