Kyle was one of the first residents to move into Quest Village when it opened in early 2018. “I was nervous to move in but I was also very excited,” said Kyle.
“He had never stayed outside of our home,” said Cindy Dempsey, Kyle’s mother. “I thought I’d be living on his couch for a long time to help with the transition but he said, ‘Okay, mom, I’m good.’”
Quest Village offers tiered levels of support services as an option for residents as they work toward further independence. “He’s here living on his own with support services that Quest Village offers, which is what makes it possible. But he is doing things I never thought were possible,” said Cindy. “They make goals for him and help him to attain them. Many of the goals are just steps to get him more independent,” said Cindy.
Kyle has friends that come over regularly to hang out and watch TV. He also joins his friends at their place for dinner. “My friend made me tacos the other night,” said Kyle.
“It’s just really great to know that he’s an adult living on his own with support. He has a level of independence that he never would have had at home. He gets to make his own choices about his life daily,” said Cindy.
“This community has definitely helped me become more independent,” said Kyle. When thinking about the future, Cindy says, “My long-term goal for Kyle is for him to just be happy living on his own, and it would never be possible without Quest.”

Quest Village is an innovative residential community designed for independent adults with developmental disabilities with convenient access to employment, healthcare, transportation, entertainment and education.
The community is comprised of 48 single bedroom/single bath apartments that provide safety and comfort.
On- and off-site support services are available to assist individuals with activities of daily living. Amenities include a washer/dryer in every room, communal dining area, computer lab, large furnished screen porch, pool table, and basketball courts. Residents are offered a variety of ongoing social activities.
