Those We Serve — Jesus

by | Sep 5, 2022 | Those We Serve

Jesus was admitted to Williams Road Cluster, a Quest Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) in Tampa, in 2006. Quest ICFs provide a nurturing home for individuals with severe and profound developmental disabilities who are non-ambulatory.

“Jesus is a happy young man,” said Wanda, Jesus’ mother, who visits him multiple times a week. “The staff really enjoy him and his lively personality.” On weekdays, Jesus attends Quest’s Training Center as his off-site Adult Day Program. He also participates in many of the community outings offered to residents.

Shortly before the pandemic, Jesus and fellow residents went to Disney World where they attended a number of live shows. “I thought it was really, really nice that he experienced that,” said Wanda.

Residents at Quest ICFs have been significantly impacted by the pandemic. Face-to-face visits were suspended for months to protect residents. “It was really hard because we couldn’t visit at all and it was such a big part of our routine,” said Wanda. “One of the directors here purchased an iPad for Jesus and we started doing video calls, which helped a lot.”

Visits have resumed and Wanda is back to her regular visits with her son. “There are very good people here. I really enjoy coming to visit and interacting with the staff and seeing how well they take care of him. It’s been a great journey.”
