Team Member Highlight – Vevelyn Robinson

by | Jul 12, 2022 | Team Member Highlight

This April, Quest’s Laurel Hill Intermediate Care Facility gained a new LPN. Our very own Vevelyn Robinson! Vevelyn worked previously as a Direct Support Professional at our training center in Apopka, FL. After four years at our training center —that included two years of nursing school —she transitioned to a licensed practical nurse.

We asked Vevelyn some questions about her experience with Quest and what led her to where she is today within the company.

How did you end up at Quest?

I needed a schedule that would work around my kid’s school schedule.

What was your role at TCA (Training Center Apopka)?

I was a Direct Support Professional 3 at the Training Center Apopka.

What was your favorite activity at TCA?

Dance was always one my favorite activity/music.

What was your favorite part about working at TCA?

The best part was the love you feel from the clients when you are there with them. Even on the worst day, someone would make you laugh or give you a hundred hugs.

After working for 4 years at TCA, what is one thing you took away from being there?

I took away that I mattered. I was more than an employee, but family. It was fun going to work when all my friends were there.

When did you decide to go to school to become an LPN?

Around August 2020, I decided to go to school for LPN. I thought it was time for me to make a change for my children.

How was your experience with going to school and working with Quest?

The experience was challenging. School was very demanding. The clients didn’t give me a break either; they wanted the same love and energy even though I was tired. My supervisor accommodated me the best that she could to help me succeed.

How did you hear about the opportunity at Laurel Hill?

I was working at a Quest group home and was told about the position by the Director of Nursing.

How has your time been at Laurel Hill so far?

It’s been exciting and challenging. Challenging, because my responsibilities are different. I have to get used to something new. Exciting, because I get to use the hands-on care that I learned in school and more.

One thing you’d like people to know entering your field?

Never be afraid to ask questions or for help.

We thank Vevelyn for taking the time to talk with us and giving us a glimpse into her work life and journey of professional growth. Quest strives to create opportunities that uplift our dedicated team members. Many of our current managers and directors were promoted within Quest and started their careers as frontline professionals.

We wish Vevelyn the best of luck on her continued growth and we thank her for her dedication to the Quest mission!
