Nicolle John-Jules is a dedicated and passionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Quest, Inc. With nearly 26 years of unwavering commitment to the organization, Nicolle’s journey is inspiring. Her incredible experience, contributions and profound impact on the lives of the individuals she serves has become an invaluable resource at Quest.
Nicolle’s role entails guiding the individuals we serve toward independence and a greater sense of self. She encourages her clients to perform tasks that many consider routine, such as flipping a switch or eating independently. It is these small, incremental steps towards self-reliance that help people with developmental disabilities experience a full life.
Before joining Quest, Nicolle worked as a home health aide in New Jersey and eventually became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her family ties and the allure of Florida brought her to the Tampa Training Center.
“I like the people. I really do. It is more like family when you see them every day, and you know what they expect of you, and I’m here to help them,” stated Nicolle. Nicolle’s favorite part of her job is simply being with the individuals she serves. She described moments of shared joy, music and dance that light up their faces. For her, it’s not just a job, it’s an opportunity to impact people’s lives positively.
Nicolle makes it a priority to foster deep and meaningful relationships with those we serve. “Her knowledge and care of the clients is unparalleled, and I truly mean that,” said Tish Yates, Quest Training Center (QTC) Staffing and Operations Coordinator. “Nicolle’s dedication to her role, even in the face of adversity, is truly commendable,” she shared.
Nicolle approaches her role with a positive attitude and an unyielding commitment to her clients. Tish shares a touching moment about a client who is easily agitated. In these moments, Nicolle’s approach is not only practical but heartwarming. “She’ll start singing and talking to him, and you can just hear the agitation going away,” said Tish.
“Nicolle is not just a caretaker; she is a guardian of dignity and respect, always ensuring that clients are treated with the utmost respect, even during challenging times,” said QTC Program Director, Nicole Lam. Nicolle’s dedication and remarkable qualities have received her recognition as “Employee of the Month” for two consecutive months. “When you work here, try to put yourself in their shoes. We all have families and we never know when we might find ourselves in this situation. So, whatever we do, we should do it with our whole heart.”
