20 Years of Holiday Giving

by | Dec 5, 2022 | Camp Thunderbird, Events

Beth Hobart started a volunteer program with Quest with one goal: to let those with disabilities know they are cherished and thought of during the holiday season.

The Holiday Home Adoption program started by Beth Hobart, a real estate agent based in Orlando, FL. and former Quest Board member, began circa 2002. Since then, she has made this an annual event that both her volunteers and clients look forward to every year.

This year’s event occurred on November 30th, 2022, at Quest’s Camp Thunderbird. Camp Thunderbird was host to three group homes for adoption. The group homes were the 1st Street and Piedmont group homes and our Alabama Supported Living home.

Volunteers arrived at 4 PM, while residents from the group homes arrived at 6 PM. For dinner, residents received Sonny’s BBQ, a yearly donation for this event. After dinner, the clients then received their presents. There were so many smiles from both volunteers and clients! Some clients returned to their homes with a Kindle Fire, laptops and flat-screen TVs!

Once our residents received their presents, they gave Quest and Beth’s group a huge “Thank You!” before making their way home.

“Reflecting on last night’s festivities and meeting her team, it is so inspiring to see supporters like them reflect our mission and continue to build communities for the people Quest strives to serve,” said Samantha Maniguat, Quest’s Events and Volunteer Manager.

We’re grateful for our partnership with Beth Hobart and her volunteer group. We look forward to next year’s event!
