Strengthen Orlando
While Orlando is fortunate to have a strong and diverse economy, the City and the Central Florida region are not immune from the effects of the unprecedented economic crisis. In response to these challenging times, Mayor Buddy Dyer is launching Strengthen Orlando: a comprehensive economic action plan to sustain our community, including a listing of programs and agencies that provide economic assistance to families and residents, such as Quest. Americans with Disabilities Act Celebrates its 20th Anniversary
July 26 marks the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which guarantees equal opportunity for people with disabilities in public accommodations, commercial facilities, employment, transportation, state and local government services and telecommunications. When the law was passed in 1990, it was the first time in American history that individuals with disabilities were given legal protections to prevent the discrimination they faced simply because they had a disability.
In a video created for Hillsborough County's disability awareness campaign and expo event, Quest team member Candice Kraus reflects positively on the great impact the law has made since its inception in the lives of people with disabilities. She knows the importance of equality and inclusion firsthand: her brother, Matthew - who is also part of the Quest family - was born with a disability.
You can view Candice's video here.
